DORIS RUSSELL GEDDINGS

Doris Russell Geddings, 91, widow of Otis Clinton Geddings, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility.

Born Nov. 23, 1932, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late John Tyler Russell Sr. and Ellen Hodge Russell. She was a charter member of Fraser Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a very dedicated pianist for many years. She was a volunteer pianist at NHC Healthcare for 24 years, where she met many friends.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas R. “Tommy” Geddings of Bishopville, and Otis Russell “Rusty” Geddings (Deborah) and David B. Geddings (Renee), all of Sumter; grandchildren, Karen Worley (Brad), Clint Geddings (Laura), Stacy Mixon (Michael) and Brian M. Geddings (Katie); four great-grandchildren; a sister, Annie Jo Dempsey (George); and a brother, Charles “Buck” Russell.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sigmon, and a brother, John T. Russell Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Chuck Staggs officiating.
The family will receive friends 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
