DOROTHY L. WITHERSPOON

A memorial service for Dorothy L. Witherspoon will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Missionary Church, 219 S. Washington St., Sumter, with the Rev. George Windley, pastor, and Bishop Dr. Johnnie W. McFadden, Doctor of Ministry, officiating.

Dorothy, wife of the late John Wilson Jr., was born on March 27, 1936, in Manning, to the late Dan and Minnie Gamble Witherspoon.

Dorothy departed this life on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, in Sumter.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Curtis Wilson, Bishop Dr. Johnnie W. McFadden, Carolyn McClendon, Ulysees "Chico" Wilson and Otis Wilson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, James (Kathy) Carraway, Henry Carraway and Joseph Carraway; one sister, Henrietta (Kenneth) Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m. daily at 242 Aberlour Driver, Sumter.
