Grand Lodge of Knights of Pythias celebrates 143rd Session

The Grand Lodge of North Carolina and South Carolina of the Knights of Pythias celebrated their 143rd Session along with the Grand Court of Calanthe, which celebrated its 107th session.

The theme was "Through Unity There is Strength, Working Together Works!"

The event was held at Emanuel Baptist Church in Thomasville, North Carolina, on Saturday.

The Jurisdiction of South Carolina was privileged to have members to receive the Past Counselor's Degree, which was bestowed upon them by Sister Ruthena B. Marley, who has served as the Grand Worthy Counselor of the Jurisdiction of North Carolina.

The Past Counselor's Degree was conferred upon Sister Patrícia Kirkland, Sister Viola Blue, Sister Gloria Reed, Sir Knight Ronnie Hill/Vice Grand Chancellor of South Carolina and Sir Knight/Grand Chancellor of South Carolina Kevin N. Brown.

The Jurisdiction of South Carolina also was blessed to have sisters to be elected to positions in the Grand Court of Calanthe.

Sister Viola Blue from Sumter was elected to serve as grand trustee. Sister Patricia Kirkland of Sumter was elected to serve as grand worthy assistant conductress. Sister Gloria Reed of Florence was appointed as grand deputy of District No. 6. Sister Reed will be the deputy for Perry Court No. 631, Pilgrim Court No. 480 and Wendell Court No. 608. Sister/Grand Deputy Dorothy Easterling of Laurinburg, North Carolina, was elected as the grand worthy counselor of the Grand Court of the Jurisdiction of North Carolina.

The Grand Lodge of the Knights of Pythias of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina has lodges in Darlington, Sumter, Cheraw, Lake City, Timmonsville and other areas forthcoming.

The Grand Court of Calanthe of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina and North Carolina has sisters and sir knights from Sumter, Florence and other areas of the Jurisdiction of South Carolina.

"It was a harmonious session, and we thank God for our Past Grand Worthy Counselor Ruthena B. Marley, who served with love, leadership and faith. We are proud of all our sirs and sisters from the North Carolina Jurisdiction. Grand Chancellor Mychal J. Robinson has been a great leader. We are so proud of our newly elected Grand Worthy Counselor Sister Dorothy Easterling, who has served diligently in the past as Grand Deputy of District No. 6. I am especially proud of our sisters and sir knights from the Jurisdiction of South Carolina for a job well done. We are on the move and growing one sister and sir knight at a time," said Grand Chancellor of South Carolina Kevin N. Brown.
