Gwendolyn Lee Hodge, 63, widow of Henry B. Hodge Jr., died on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
Born on June 10, 1958, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Esther White Lee. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing with the choir. Along with her Lord, she loved her husband and family with all of her heart. She always had a smile for everyone.
Survivors include three children, Henry B. Hodge III (Tiffany) of Sumter, Deborah J. Confer of Richlands, North Carolina, and Mary A. Hodge of Sumter; 11 grandchildren, Devin Hodge (Bethany), Chase Hodge (Bailey), Alexis Hodge (Cole), Samantha Hodge, Aaron Hodge, Gabriella Hodge, Bethany Hodge, Daniel Hodge, Zalen Confer, Jasmine Hodge and Jaxton Cappell; and two great-grandchildren, Layla Jean Hodge and Paisley Hodge.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gage Hodge; three sisters, Georgette Ives, Margaret Lee and Betty Ann McKenzie; and one brother, Johnathan Lee.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Burke, Pastor Pat Coffey and Wayne McElveen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
