LEXINGTON — Harriett Moore Wilfong, 83, widow of Richard Kent Wilfong, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Carroll Campbell Center in Lexington.

Born June 14, 1940, in the Woodrow Community of Dalzell, she was the eldest daughter of the late Frealin Moore and Ila Mae Smith Moore. She had a wonderful Christian-based marriage of 64 years to Richard. She was most proud of the family structure they were able to build together during their marriage. Harriett’s most enjoyable times were spent preparing and sharing meals with her family. She was a very active member of St. John Methodist Church, where she enjoyed being a member of the Sunday School and Ladies’ Circle. She loved being a part of the support group that provided meals for church members and activities. She retired after an outstanding career from City Financial. Following her retirement, she and Richard moved to Lexington to be near family members.

Harriett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Michael Pippin of Lexington; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Ginger Wilfong of Raleigh, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Olin McLeod of Dalzell; grandchildren, Cora and Dan Walker, Kent Pippin and Krysta Petty, Matthew and Katie Wilfong, and Claire Wilfong; great-grandchildren, Michael and Charlie Walker, and Valerie Wilfong; niece, Angie Melvin, her husband, Kenion, and her children, Garrett and Caroline; and nieces and nephews in Virginia and Maryland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Frieda McLeod.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bob Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Methodist Church Cemetery on Springhill Road.

Pallbearers will be Michael Pippin, Garrett Melvin, Kenion Melvin, Dan Walker, Kent Pippin and Matthew Wilfong.
