Jason Johnson wins Sumter school board Area 5 in landslide

Pinewood native Jason Johnson won the Sumter school board Area 5 race in a landslide with 64.51% of the total vote.  

Challenger Roosevelt Miott placed second with 20.55% of the vote, and Gregory Walters finished third with 14.09%.

Area 5 is a large portion of western Sumter County extending from Horatio in the northern section near Shaw Air Force Base down to Pinewood in the southern section and also includes the Wedgefield area. The western boundary line is the Richland County line, and a southern boundary is the Clarendon County line. The easternmost boundary area includes Providence Baptist Church.
