FLORENCE -- James "Jim" Thomas Nesbitt Jr., 75, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, 229 W. Broad St., Darlington, with burial following in Black Creek Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mr. Nesbitt was born in Lee County, a son of the late James T. Nesbitt Sr. and the late Hannah Atkinson Nesbitt. Jim was well-known for his TV talk show, which aired for more than 10 years. As a country music singer, he played at the Grand Ole Opry and sang with George Jones, Dolly Parton, Connie Smith and numerous other singers. He was inducted into the South Carolina Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2000. Jim was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Sammie Jane Boyette Nesbitt; a son, Timothy (Michelle) Nesbitt of Summerville; two daughters, Kim (Hunter) Wilberger of Buford, Ga., and Jayne (Chad) Helms of Hartsville; stepsons, Jimmy (Mitzy) Mozen of Florence and James (Ashley) Smith of Darlington; stepdaughters, Martha (Scott) Driggers of Effingham and Donna (Doug) Meyers of Florence; 14 grandchildren; a fishing buddy, Paul Harrington; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Watts of Bishopville; and his beloved dog, Hank.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
