A Laurence Manning Academy teacher and her husband have died due to a “tragic accident,” according to the school.
The K3-12 Christian-faith private school posted on Facebook and its website Thursday morning that the “Laurence Manning family has experienced the tragedy of a teacher (Jessica McFaddin) and her husband passing away.” The school’s posted information did not give details, and the Clarendon County Coroner’s Office and law enforcement in Manning have not yet confirmed the names of the deceased, the cause, method or other details.
“At this time, we ask that everyone keep the McFaddin family and our entire LMA family in your thoughts and prayers,” a post on LMA’s Facebook said.
Law enforcement and first responders were on scene Thursday at the McFaddins’ home near the Clarendon-Sumter county line, their parked vehicles sharing the front yard with a children’s swing and slide set.
McFaddin was part of a 15-member administrative staff and 93-person faculty and teaching staff at LMA, and she served as the school’s director of public information and yearbook advisor, according to the school’s faculty directory.
B-Team and JV games versus Wilson Hall have been canceled for Halloween night, according to the post and the school’s website, as have all girls basketball activities for Oct. 31.
The November PAT meeting scheduled for Friday has also been canceled.
