Manning woman killed in Saturday night collision

A collision involving two vehicles at 8:23 p.m. Saturday on S.C. 261 near Homebranch Road resulted in the death of a passenger.

According to Trooper First Class Tyler Tidwell with the S.C. Highway Patrol, a 2011 Chevy HHR, driven by a 40-year-old of Manning, was struck by a 2015 Chevy Cruze, driven by a 21-year-old of Manning.

The Chevy HHR was traveling south on S.C. 261 when the Cruze traveling north on S.C. 261, went left of center and struck the HHR.

The passenger of the HHR was entrapped, and both occupants of the HHR were transported to McLeod Health in Clarendon by EMS. The driver of the Cruze was airlifted to McLeod Health in Florence.

Clarendon County Deputy Coroner Albert Mobley said the cause of death of 45-year-old Amanda Frye of Manning is multiple blunt-force trauma to the lower torso.
