Paul Michael “Mike” Queen, 76, of Sumter, departed this life on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home.
Paul “Mike” was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Paul Adrian Queen and the late Emma Jean Young Queen on March 3, 1948.  He grew up in Hilliard, Ohio, and graduated from Hilliard High School.  He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter and proudly served for 30 years and retired as a chief master sergeant (Ammo).  Mike was married to the late Mary Ellen Synett Queen of Sumter.
Mike was a loving husband, great father and proud grandfather.  His military service allowed his family to travel the world and experience a wonderful life.  He was loyal to his family and always kept tabs on extended family and friends that were scattered all over the world.  His advice and steadfast presence will be greatly missed.
Paul “Mike” is survived by his two children, Shelly Richardson (Dempsey) and Brian “Tiny” Queen (Deborah) of Sumter, along with seven grandchildren, Holly Hernandez (Santiago) of Greer, Sarah Geddings (Landon) of Sumter, Lexi and Rylee Richardson, both of Sumter, and Brianna, Ashleigh and Aiden Queen, all of Sumter.  He is also survived by his brother, Rich Queen (Dottie) of Grove City, Ohio; a sister, Brenda Alford (Rick) of Naples, Florida; along with nieces, Mariah Alford and Danielle Wray (Rob) and a nephew, Tim Alford, all of Ohio.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Queen.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Sumter First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating.  Burial with full military honors will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joey Lyles, Santiago Hernandez, Landon Geddings, Louie Gentele, Justin Harrell and David Springs.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Retired Chief’s Group.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 2823 September Dr.
