Public participation and the superintendent's report are the headline topics before Sumter School District's Board of Trustees on Monday, March 11.
A district staff member posted the meeting agenda for the board late this week, and board Chairman the Rev. Ralph Canty also spoke briefly on Friday to The Sumter Item.
Two reports from district Chief Financial Officer Shatika Spearman also made the agenda to include a recent Request for Proposals (RFP) for audit services and the semi-annual Minority Business Enterprise Utilization Plan.
According to Canty, the district must conduct a new Request for Proposals for audit services every three years and the time is now. Columbia-based Mauldin and Jenkins has been selected again for the contract.
Monday's meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the district office, 1345 Wilson Hall Road.
Regarding public participation, any member of the public wanting to make a comment to the board on any topic must arrive before the 6 p.m. start time – as early as 5:30 p.m. – and complete a form to speak.
For those not physically attending, the district broadcasts meetings live on YouTube.
Anyone wanting to attend the meeting virtually can do so via YouTube Sumter School District Board Meeting and the district's Facebook page, @SumterSCSchools.
