Three shootings that left two people dead and prompted multiple arrests this month are connected, according to investigators with Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, Aug. 13, Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Davis Street and Dogwood Drive in Bishopville. There, deputies discovered Mack, 18, died from a gunshot wound. Two other juvenile victims involved were not injured, according to the agency.

An investigation indicated the shooting was in relation to an ongoing dispute which had spanned for some time, the sheriff’s office said.

After days of investigation and between Monday, Aug. 17, and Tuesday, Aug. 18, the sheriff’s office arrested Reginald Tryone Epps III, 19, of Lynchburg, De’marcus Qualik Atkinson, 17, of Bishopville, and Ty’shyn Cortilus Williams, 18, of Camden, according to a release from the agency.

Epps III, Atkinson and Williams were each charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and criminal conspiracy, according to the agency.

Investigators also determined the shooting was in relation to a fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month, on Aug. 8, on Nash Road where Shaquander Shavon Mixon, 43, died from a gunshot wound.

Both shootings have been linked to another shooting that occurred the same day along Maple Drive in Bishopville city limits, investigators said. An investigation by Bishopville Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office has assisted the police department with the arrest of four individuals in connection to the Maple Drive shooting. Nickael Simon, Mekhi Watters and a juvenile, all of Bishopville, were each charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, shooting into an occupied dwelling and criminal conspiracy, according to Bishopville Police Chief J.D. Dellinger.

Epps is also charged in connection to the shooting and faces similar charges.

An investigation into the Nash Road shooting is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.

Anyone with information regarding any of the three shootings is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 484-5353 or submit tips anonymously through the sheriff’s office’s app.
