Stanley M. Benenhaley, 93, widower of Melissa Ann Ray Benenhaley, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at his home.

Born April 7, 1930, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Jesse Noah Benenhaley and Emma Oxendine Benenhaley. Mr. Benenhaley was a member of Springbank Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Shaw Air Force Base Civil Service after 31 years. He enjoyed hunting and watching the Atlanta Braves and P-15's baseball.

Survivors include three children, Janis Stiltner, Michael Benenhaley and Bobby D. Benenhaley (Shanna); five grandsons, Chris Benenhaley (Starr), Matthew Benenhaley (Jennifer), Justin Okonek, Cameron Benenhaley and Colton Benenhaley; six great-grandsons, Alex Benenhaley, Cory Benenhaley, Chaz Benenhaley, A.J. Green (Jasmine) and Alonso Green; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Ray.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Springbank Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Steve Miller. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Colton Benenhaley, Cameron Benenhaley, Chris Benenhaley, Anthony Benenhaley, Frank Delgado and Matthew Benenhaley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Vanliew and Gerry Vanliew.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Springbank Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
