Sumter coroner releases name of shooting victim dropped off at ER, police investigate

A man dropped off at the emergency room died from injuries sustained in a shooting whose location is unknown.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, Travis Desmond Rouse, 35, of Sumter, was dropped off at Prisma Health Tuomey ER with injuries from an alleged shooting, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. Rouse died from his injuries, Baker said.

Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

An investigation is ongoing by Sumter Police Department and Sumter County Coroner’s Office.
