Sumter County Family Court office closed

The Sumter County Family Court Office is currently closed to the public until further notice.

It was announced during the weekend that the office will be closed for the time being, and its reopening is unknown.

The Sumter Item contacted Clerk of Court Jamie Campbell multiple times about the reasoning behind the temporary closure, but he did not respond. Sumter County Government Communications Coordinator Joe Perry said both he and Campbell are on vacation and could not offer more information.

Family Court is a critical asset to families in Sumter County, as it handles divorces, separations, domestic violence petitions, child abuse, juvenile crimes, child support and more.
