Sumter County Sheriff's Office seeks the public's help in the investigation of a deceased man found after a shots-fired call.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the Seminole Road and Cone Street area. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with witnesses and began searching for evidence, at which time they discovered a deceased male lying on the ground and called EMS, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

Investigators began interviewing people and gathering evidence. As of Monday, they are continuing to pursue leads, Bordeaux said.

“Our investigators are actively continuing to collect evidence and pursue leads that will identify the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting,” said Sheriff Anthony Dennis. “We will continue to pursue every lead with the help of our friends in the community.”

Dennis feels confident that an arrest will be “forthcoming” and expresses gratitude to those who shared information with investigators, according to Bordeaux.
