Sumter deputies seek information in fatal drive-by shooting

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has offered thousands in reward money for information in the killing of a 34-year-old man on Saturday, July 30.

At 10:43 p.m., Sumter deputies responded to a call of shots fired along Patricia Drive and arrived to find a man shot and killed outside his home. Anthony Rashod Major was identified as the victim and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer with the sheriff’s office.

Investigators learned Major was shot with numerous rounds fired from a vehicle driving by his home.  

Sheriff Anthony Dennis said “our investigators are focused on finding the person or persons responsible” and will “follow every piece of evidence for as long as it takes to bring justice.”
