A Sumter man, who was wanted for questioning in connection to a fatal shooting, is now considered the suspect.

According to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department, a warrant for Travis Wright, 43, of Sumter, was issued earlier this evening, charging him with the murder of 25-year-old Adrian NaBryce McCray.

Before 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, officers responded to a shooting call at A&P Coastal Mart on Boulevard Road where they found McCray on the ground. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died; his family was with him at the time of death, McGirt said.

A vehicle seen near the business at the time of the shooting has been recovered. Efforts to locate Wright continue.

Anyone with information or knows of Wright’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
