A new mother was arrested on Jan. 17 after giving birth to a boy who reportedly tested positive for cocaine.
Nicole M. Campbell, 33, of North Lafayette Drive in Sumter, has been charged with unlawful neglect of a child in connection to the birth of her child on Oct. 3, 2018.
According to an incident report from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Campbell tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and morphine during the third trimester of her pregnancy.
Campbell was released from the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center on a $3,500 personal recognizance bond on Jan. 17.
