Sumter Today: Community Service with USC Sumter Baseball

Posted

Head USC Sumter Baseball coach Tim Medlin asks for community service hours from each of his players, and it doesn't take much to get them on board. "The one thing I know is that I want high character guys," he said. The Fire Ants participate in volunteer opportunities like bell ringing, bike fixing, and school visits. Coach Medlin emphasized the weight of character over talent in the recruiting process, "If I have to talk about character and effort, we're gonna lose, and we wanna win!"

Sumter Today is presented by the University of South Carolina Sumter, Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, and Sumter Tourism.
