Sumter woman allegedly charged $600 to 94-year-old woman's credit card

A 45-year-old woman is charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult after she allegedly racked up hundreds of dollars with a 94-year-old woman's credit card while the victim was staying at a health care facility.

Candida V. Chin, of Burgess Court, was arrested Thursday for reportedly taking the victim's credit card between Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 at Blue Ridge Healthcare on Pinewood Road, according to Ken Bell, public information officer at Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

She is accused of using the card to make four unauthorized purchases totaling about $600.

The 94-year-old woman, a Georgetown resident, was placed at the local facility "because of the weather."

An incident report does not state how Chin gained access to the victim's card.

Chin was transported to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center where a personal recognizance bond was set at $5,000 with the condition that she not have contact with the victim. She has since made bond and been released.
