Suspect flees Rembert after shooting leaves 1 critically injured

One person has sustained injuries that law enforcement says are critical after a shooting in Rembert Monday evening.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting that occurred at Horatio-Hagood Road and U.S. 521 about 5:20 p.m. Monday. According to Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff's office, an adult male was transported from the area for treatment.

A suspect(s) was seen leaving the scene after the shooting, heading southbound toward Sumter in a white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, Sarvis said.
