Teenager dies in I-95 wreck in Clarendon County

MANNING – A Timmonsville teenager who graduated from high school less than a week ago was killed in a one-vehicle wreck on Interstate 95 around 8 a.m. June 7.

Clarendon County Cororer Jacqueline Blackwell identified the person as 17-year-old Devon Tyler Hopkins.

According to Master Trooper David Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Hopkins was driving a 2021 International box truck south on I-95 when his vehicle left the roadway to the left, entered the median and hit several trees.

“He was not wearing a seatbelt and was deceased at the scene,” Jones said.

The wreck is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
