1 dies after camper fire on Sunday in Sumter

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker released the name of the man who died after a fire on Sunday night.

Sumter Fire Department responded to a camper fire on Nov. 3 at about 8:30 p.m. on Hill Road.  

Willie Brown Jr., 88, of Sumter, was pronounced dead on scene, according to Baker. The camper was fully engulfed and destroyed, he said.

Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
