Sumter Police Department is searching for two 20-year-olds in connection to the fatal shooting that occurred inside Walmart on Feb. 14.
Chryshaun Nerome McKenzie and Semieon Zaire Helton-Hill, both of Sumter, are each wanted on breach of peace charges in relation to a dispute on the night of Feb. 13 involving some of the same individuals identified in the shooting the next day, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for Sumter Police Department.
Jaquante Montgomery, 24, died after being shot inside Walmart at about 3 p.m. on Feb. 14. Chanceler Lowery, 19, encouraged by his parents, turned himself in to officers later that Friday afternoon, as reported during a police department news conference in February. He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to McGirt.
Further investigation led to warrants being issued for McKenzie and Helton-Hill as well as 19-year-old Patrick Drevion Butler and 23-year-old Antione Kurry Price, McGirt said.
Both Butler and Price were taken into custody in March and released on bond. McKenzie is also wanted by Sumter County Sheriff’s Office on multiple charges, including attempted murder and armed robbery in unrelated incidents, McGirt said.
Anyone who sees McKenzie or Helton-Hill or knows of their whereabouts is asked to contact Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 436-2000 or the nearest law enforcement agency.
