54-year-old D.C. man dies in single-vehicle wreck along I-95 in Clarendon

South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal wreck that left one dead and another injured.

The wreck occurred at 12:36 a.m. on Monday, June 29.

According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, a 2026 Subaru Outback was traveling north on I-95 before traveling off the roadway to the right and striking a tree. 

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell identified the deceased as Kenneth Charles Darrell, 54, of Washington, D.C.

The passenger was injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
