Clarendon coroner releases identity of missing man found in pond

The body of a man reported missing has been found in a pond, according to Clarendon County's coroner.

Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell said the body of Johnnie Lee Bowman, 66, of Manning, was located in a pond along Paxville Highway in Manning on Sunday, Sept. 6. 

Bowman was reported missing to Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office last week by his family. He was a veteran reportedly suffering from PTSD, Blackwell said. 

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. 

An investigation is ongoing by Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and Clarendon County Coroner’s Office.
