SUBMITTED BY MORRIS COLLEGE
Morris College announces plans to establish the Small Business Entrepreneur Incubator Center, a transformative initiative designed to stimulate economic development, foster entrepreneurship and create sustainable job opportunities across Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties.
This transformative initiative is made possible by a $1,250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), underscoring the federal government's confidence in Morris College's leadership and the project's potential to drive regional economic growth.
Congressman James E.Clyburn will visit the Morris College campus to present a ceremonial mock check representing this federal investment, highlighting the significance of the grant and its impact on economic development throughout the region.
The Small Business Entrepreneur Incubator Center will serve as a centralized hub for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners, offering affordable co-working space, access to state-of-the-art technology, business education, mentorship and financial planning services.
Addressing a Critical Need
As the local business landscape continues to evolve, many aspiring entrepreneurs face significant barriers - including limited access to capital, professional guidance, affordable workspace and essential business infrastructure. These challenges not only hinder individual business success, but also limit broader economic growth throughout the region.
Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy, accounting for nearly 50% of the workforce and more than 99% of U.S. businesses. By investing in a structured incubator environment, Morris College aims to expand access, reduce barriers and increase long-term economic vitality in the Pee Dee region.
