BISHOPVILLE - St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church will host Stronger Together: Strengthening Lives, Strengthening Families, Strengthening the Church on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary. This free, community-focused gathering is designed to address the emotional and relational challenges affecting families today and to offer practical, faith-centered next steps for healthier living.
This initiative is not a therapy session, nor a forum for airing grievances. Rather, it is a proactive effort to normalize healthy conversations around stress, grief, burnout, family strain and emotional fatigue - issues frequently faced but rarely addressed openly in faith spaces.
The program will be led by Pastor Travis L. Laws, MA, CESP, MHC II, Lee County clinic director for Santee-Wateree Mental Health Center and pastor of Greenbay Missionary Baptist Church in Lynchburg. Laws brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and pastoral compassion, equipping participants with tools that honor both faith and professional insight.
"Stronger Together creates a sacred space where people can feel seen, supported and informed," said Lady M. Foxe, first lady of St. Mark. "Our prayer is that attendees leave encouraged, better equipped and confident that they do not have to navigate life's challenges alone."
The day will include interactive teaching, guided reflection, movement-based activities, group dialogue and the sharing of anonymous survey findings that will help shape future ministry efforts at St. Mark. Attendees will also receive information on next-step resources for continued care and support within the community.
St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church is in Bishopville and is pastored by the Rev. Immanuel Foxe II. The church remains committed to serving the whole person - spiritually, emotionally and relationally.
