Sumter Item to host annual Hines Furniture Football Media Day Aug. 1

As the month of July winds down, we inch closer to another fall filled with football in the tri-county. On Aug. 1, The Sumter Item will ring in the football season with the seventh-annual Hines Furniture Football Media Day.

Like last year, the event will be hosted at The Sumter Item office at 36 W. Liberty St. and will feature all 12 tri-county football programs. The day will start at 10 a.m. The event will not be streamed live but instead recorded and posted on The Item Sports Facebook page daily in the leadup to the start of the football season. The annual media day will also help fill our annual Gridiron football preview section, which will run in the Aug. 19 edition of The Sumter Item.

This year's event will let fans get to know their teams a bit better heading into the season, as four area football programs have new head coaches this fall.
