Sumter woman wins $500K with $10 scratch-off ticket

COLUMBIA – A Sumter lottery player described perfectly how it feels to win half-a-million dollars.
“I feel rich,” she told lottery officials.
She says she was putting gas in her car at the Refuel on Manning Rd. in Sumter when she decided to take a chance on a $10 scratch-off. She picked out a Gold Vault Extra Play! ticket that beat the odds of more than 1 in a million to win her $500,000.
“It’s amazing,” she said.
The winner, who does not wish to be identified, did not share her plans for the windfall.
The odds of winning $500,000 in the Gold Vault Extra Play! game are 1 in 1,176,000. One more top prize remains in the game.
Refuel in Sumter received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
