Willie Morant Jr., 84, transitioned to his eternal home on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House of Florence.

Willie, affectionately known as "Boy," was born on July 24, 1934, in Lee County, a son of the late Willie Morant Sr. and Gertrude Morant. He joined Mount Olive AME Church, Woodrow, at an early age, before moving to Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Mount LeBanon Baptist Church. He was employed by S.C. Trucking Co. of Brooklyn. He also held several other jobs while living in New York.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Willie Morant and Huey (Katrina) Stanley of Brooklyn; two daughters, Cynthia Gallishaw of Columbia and Tany Evans of Atlanta; four foster children, Ardene, Harold, Elizabeth and Nathaniel Snipe, all of Brooklyn; four sisters, Naomi Cooke of Brooklyn, Edith Durant and Lillie (James) Williams, both of Dalzell, and Janie Dingle of Sumter; three brothers, Leroy (Frances) Morant of Orangeburg, James (Flossie) Morant of Sumter and Kenny Green of New York; one sister-in-law, Debbie Morant of Orangeburg; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Jenny Snipe of Brooklyn; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at his home, 2716 Rembert Branch Church Road, Dalzell.

Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Mount Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road, Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Friendly J. Gadson, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing until time of services.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from his home.

Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Garden, Pear Street, Sumter.
